We are planning a big family WDW vacation for next June. We can't decide between a value resort or a moderate resort, we only have one child in our party, a 5 y.o. and 6 adults. Haven't heard great things about the value resorts. Input please!

    Hi Michelle!

This is a great question!  It is really guest dependent.  Some guests would be very happy in a Disney Value Resort while others would great prefer a Disney Moderate Resort.  Either way you are going to have to get multiple rooms at the resort to hold your party size.  You can get connecting rooms at both Disney Value and Disney Moderate Resorts.

If you just see your hotel as just a place to sleep when you are not in the theme parks, then a Disney Value Resort is fine.  If you see your hotel as some place to relax or to spend a lot of time at, then I generally suggest going with a Disney Moderate Resort.  Disney Moderate Resorts have a slide at their feature pool, more service and amenities, and most have a Table Service restaurant in addition to a food court.  Generally speaking, Disney Moderate Resorts have a lot more family activities available.  For example, at Port Orleans Riverside, guests can rent a boat, rent a bicycle, go on a carriage ride, ride a boat to Downtown Disney, etc.

By the way, my favorite Disney Value Resorts are Pop Century and the new Art of Animation Resort.  My favorite Disney Moderate Resort is Port Orleans Riverside.

I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
