Hi! We are planning a big family trip to DW, possibly 10/28-11/2. Does the Halloween party affect the parks/rides for those that do not attend the party? Are any of the Halloween decorations(not at party) scary for small children? Thanks for your help!

    Hi Rachel,

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is so much fun! On nights that it is being held, the Magic Kingdom attractions will be closed to regular guests who have not purchased a Special Event ticket to attend the Party. On those evenings, at 7:00pm, Cast Members will begin checking for wristbands as guests enter the various sections of the Magic Kingdom. Those without one will be redirected to the front of the park to leave for the evening, although they are welcome to enjoy the shops on Main Street still if they would like.

As far as scary decorations, I really can't recall any that frightened my children. You may want to avoid the Haunted Mansion, as they have the graveyard decorations. Also, during the "Boo-to-You" Parade which is shown during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the Headless Horseman makes an appearance. It's actually really cool as opposed to scary though. Beyond that everything is "Not-So-Scary". You'll see pumpkins and other festive decorations.

I've planned many "Grand Gatherings" for big groups and I'd love to help you with your vacation planning. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

    Have a wonderful vacation,
