    Catie from MA Asked

Hello! I have NEVER planned a vacation before, so I am out of my league. I want to make this as special as possible for my daughters ages 6 & 7 but try and keep it as cheap as possible. Any help or advice would be so appreciated! Thanks in advacne

    Hi, Catie!

I am so glad you came to the Moms Panel as you plan for your very first trip to Walt Disney World! We are happy to help you make this trip magical while not breaking the bank!

Start by choosing a resort. I would suggest All-Star Movies, a Value Resort. This will probably be the least expensive resort option. But no worries, it is still amazing with the great theming throughout the resort, great pools, and wonderful food court.

Make sure to check for Special Offers for your travel dates. Hopefully you can find a great deal that can save you some money. When booking, add on the FREE Magical Express airport transportation. The friendly drivers will take you from the airport right to your resort, and even transfer your luggage for you! Magical service from the minute you get to Orlando.

When adding on tickets, to keep the cost down, avoid park hoppers or water parks. While nice options, the cost can add up quickly.

Finally, keep the cost down with little things:  Bring items from home instead of paying top dollar in WDW...bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, rain ponchos, autograph books, pens, and even small snacks like crackers to munch on.  Avoid buying expensive bottled water in the parks. Cups of ice water are always free at Quick Service locations. You will also want to set a budget ahead of time for souvenirs. I suggest "just looking" until your 2nd last day, then your kids can decide on which souvenir they liked the most and get it then. This will help with impulse buying throughout your trip.

Let us know how we can help once you start planning. We are happy to lend an "ear" and help where we can!
