Planned last minute short trip to WDW; have not been since 1982! My girls are 2.& 4 & princess fans. We can't seem to get reservations for princess meal at the Magic Kingdom any suggestions? We will be there 10/27-29/10.

    Pamela:

There are several meals on Disney property that feature princesses--not just Cinderella's Royal Table at the Magic Kingdom.

Consider trying to make a reservation at Akershus in Epcot during your stay.  It's housed in Norway in the World Showcase and highlights many of the princesses, including Belle and Snow White. If you can't land reservations on your first call, keep in mind that a reservation at this restaurant requires a credit card, so diners are more conscious of canceling their reservations--especially before the 48-hour-advance window. So don't be afraid to call up until your departure.

The Grand Floridian hotel hosts the other princess meal: dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  You will not only have the opportunity to meet Cinderella but also the Prince, the funny Wicked Stepsisters and their mother.  This meal provides comic relief, especially if older siblings are along for the meal.

My advice when it comes to getting a reservation: be persistent. A cancelation can come at any time of the day. For one of my last trips for Spring Break, a busy time of year, I programmed the Disney dining line into my cell phone and called whenever I thought about it: in the check-out line at the grocery, at my boy's ball games, and after dialing for several days got a reservation at the popular Chef Mickey's.

If you find yourself without a reservation once you get to Disney, you may want to check into the new "Near Me" online dining reservation system that the Disney Parks blog debuted on October 6. The new ap, for supported Android, Blackberry and iPhone cells, would be another option for a last-minute reservation!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
