We just planned our 1st Disney Cruise and I would like to know if we fly in to MCO and the day before we embarck and take the Disney bus to one of the Disney resorts do we still have to pay the transfer fee from the hotel the next day same day we embarck?

    Hi, Joanne!

Congratulations on your first Disney Cruise Line (DCL) vacation -- it's a magical and amazing voyage aboard Disney cruise ships! Let me help explain the process of getting back and forth to the port.

Most DCL guests arrive at Orlando International Airport (MCO) and get to the cruise port terminal at Port Canaveral several different ways -- by DCL's ground transportation or by rental car, taxi or hired private driver. The port is more or less about an hour away from the airport or the Walt Disney World (WDW) resort, and it's the guest's responsibility to secure ground transportation to and from the cruise port terminal.

Disney's Magical Express (DME) is a complimentary airport shuttle service to and from MCO which provides transportation for WDW resort guests by Mears Transportation -- which provides ground transportation for DCL, too. The cost for DCL ground transportation is approximately $70 per person, round trip, and the trip can be coordinated between the WDW resort, the port and/or MCO for arrivals and departures.

For you and your family, you will take the complimentary DME motor coach to your WDW resort and stay the night before your cruise.  If you reserve DCL Ground Transportation to the port, you will receive instructions on where and when to meet your bus and how to prepare and present your luggage for the porters. All you'll need to do is hop on for a comfy ride to the cruise terminal, and the next time you'll see your bags is in your stateroom on board.

I hope that clears things up for you. Let me know if you have more questions. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
