We are planing our first family trip to WDW, and I have read about the dining plan, however we are not staying on the resort. Do we need to be on the resort to get the meal plan?

Yes. You must be staying on WDW property to take advantage of the Disney Dining Plan. However, any guest, regardless of where they're staying, can dine at any of the Disney restaurants -- the method of payment will just be different.

Hope you have a great trip!
