I would like to plan a trip to Disney World. What is the best way to do this? I have an 18 year old with a disability, and she uses a wheelchair. We want to stay at a Disney resort.

    Hi Kathleen ~

As a Mom to a son with Cerebral Palsy, I'm familiar with planning a trip with a child with mobility disabilities.

I'd start by picking the dates you want to travel. Then set a budget. There are accessible rooms in all of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels but the number is limited. The features in the rooms may vary. For example, some of the accessible rooms have roll-in showers and others have tubs. You can explore resort hotels on the Disney World website. Once you reach that link, click on the "Accessible Rooms" option near the top right corner. That will give you some ideas of what is available during the time you want to visit. Also check out the special offers page.

    Here are some other tips:
    * Purchase your theme park tickets in advance so that you can make Disney FastPass+ service selections prior to your trip.
    * Make Advanced Dining Reservations. These can be made be made up to 180 days prior to your trip. You can also make special dietary requests.
    * Download the My Disney Experience mobile app.
    * Once you reach the theme parks, request Disability Access Service (DAS) for your daughter.
    * Visit the Guests with Mobility Disabilities page.

I've briefly touched on a lot but I'm limited in space so please feel free to visit again.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
