    Wendy from IL Asked

We plan on our first trip in May of 2013 and we are driving from Illinois... What are your recommendations on a hotel for a 9 and 5 yr old? I am excited but overwhelmed at all this information I have been reading. thx

Hi Wendy!  I am getting ready to take the drive down from Indiana at the end of this week and can't wait! We have a motor coach so I am very familiar with the route!

When choosing a resort the first thing you need to do is to check the budget.  There are three categories for the Disney resorts called Value, Moderate, and Deluxe.  The Value resorts will offer nice clean rooms but they are slightly smaller and further from parks. They will all have themed pools but no water slides and only food courts in their location.  If you bump up to the Moderate category you start to find water slides, some restaurants, more recreation amenities if they are located on water, and now most likely queen beds in the resorts.  The Deluxe resorts will be the most expensive but they offer location, location, location! They will be close to parks and possibly in walking distance to one or more, they might be on the monorail line, have full service restaurants, great pools and slides, great recreation amenities, queen beds, and more. You can check out each one at this site and the prices for the rooms. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/

    I will list my favorites:
Value: Pop Century and now the new Art of Animation Family Suites
Moderate: Coronado Springs or Port Orleans (Royal rooms in Riverside are amazing if you have little girls)
Deluxe: Beach Club (near Epcot) or Polynesian (near Magic Kingdom)

Your decision will ultimately be based on cost so take time and review the resorts you are interested in and compare the cost. Sometimes you won't spend enough time in the room to pay for the Deluxe...Values offer a great clean and efficient room as well!
