I would like to plan our 2nd family vacation and would like to know what the crowds will be like from the day after Christmas until the day after New Years..... How can I make it a great vacation and holiday at the same time??

Hi, DeLisa! The holiday season at Walt Disney World Resort is the most beautiful time of year … and can be the most crowded. Many families choose to give a Disney Parks vacation as a present to their families, while taking advantage of a time the children are out of school. With some planning, you can make this a magical trip for your family.

My first tip for you is to sit down with your family and make a “Top 3” list with each of them of what may have been their favorite attraction in each park during your last trip, or even three new things they want to experience. When planning each day, make those a priority, and anything else you accomplish will be added pixie dust on top of a practically perfect day.

My next tip for you is to plan your day-to-day itinerary in advance, scheduling Advance Dining Reservations and completing FastPass+ selections. I know many Guests do like to “go with the flow” while on vacation. However, I find that having an idea of where we are going and what we want to accomplish each day, especially when vacationing during busier seasons, helps our days be less hectic. There are many websites, such as EasyWDW.com and TouringPlans.com, that can help you decide on a great park to visit each day and will even provide great touring plans for each park.

My last tip is perhaps my most important tip. I know it’s your vacation and you want to relax, catch up on sleep. Eh, you can sleep when you get home! Check park hours in the days leading up to your trip (they often change even day before) and try to get to each park before opening. Crowds are always much lower in the first few hours of operation. We usually enjoy those first few hours and leave after lunch when crowds are at their heaviest. After an afternoon of enjoying our Resort, we head back in for nighttime spectaculars and use of preplanned FastPass+ selections.

I hope these tips help you plan great days for your family!
