I want to plan a Disney vacation and I'd like some tips on saving as much money as I can. I want to take my grandson, its on my bucket list. I am a young widow and I need to save as much money as possible

    Hi, Kimberly!

Planning a trip to Walt Disney World on a budget is no problem. Mickey and his pals have vacation ideas for everyone visiting.

Start by saving now. You and your darling grandson can decorate a fun container where you can drop extra change or set aside a few dollars a week. It will really add up! From now until your trip, in lieu of gifts, tell your grandson you are adding money to your Disney jar so he can get to the vacation as soon as possible.

When planning your vacation, start by booking a standard room at a Value Resort. Keep checking for Special Offers where you can find discounted rooms and even Free Dining for certain travel times.  When choosing tickets, do not add on pricey options like park hopping and water parks.

Avoid the little things that add up. Plan ahead by bringing a tote bag for the parks each day.  Fill it up with snacks (goldfish crackers, cereal bars), notebooks and pens for autographs, a camera, rain ponchos and umbrellas, sunscreen, hats, and even a fresh T-shirt for any messes that might pop up! To stay on budget on souvenirs, either give him a Disney Gift Card that will have a set amount of money, or make a 2 -3 cute "coupons," each good for one souvenir.  Let him know that is the limit, so use them wisely.

Try to travel in September when crowds are low and prices generally reasonable.  No need to book a pricey rental car, and the Magical Express will take care of your airport transportation for free.

This should get you started! Let me know if you have any other questions on how to make your budget-friendly trip MAGICAL!   I look forward to hearing from you soon!
