I plan on competing in the Glass Slipper Challenge this coming February (2015). We also want to have a family vacation during this time. We have never been to Disney and are looking at ways to save on travel/hotel/tickets/food?

    Hi, Amie!

I am so excited that not only will you be competing in your first runDisney endurance event, but that you are also taking your very first family vacation to Walt Disney World Resort.

Here are some tips to help save you save.

Resort Hotels: I recommend staying on property for this enchanted weekend, and by staying at a host hotel, all race transportation is provided. Additionally, if you fly, Disney's Magical Express service will transport you free of charge from Orlando International Airport to your Disney Resort. To take advantage of any special travel packages offered by runDisney, keep an eye on the Travel Tab on the runDisney website. This is where travel package information will be released closer to registration opening in July. Another great option for discounted room rates is the Special Offers Tab on the Walt Disney World Resort website. Although discounts for 2015 have not yet been released, they traditionally offer discounts of 25%-35% when you book within a certain time frame.

Tickets: runDisney often offers discounted park tickets for select race weekends, if they do for the 2015 Princess Half Marathon Weekend, this information will post on the Travel Tab I mentioned above. Other ways to save include UndercoverTourist.com and AAA. There are also great prices on tickets for members of the U.S Military.

Food: Consider the Disney Dining Plan. This is a flexible way to enjoy your vacation. Select the highlighted link to learn more!

I hope this information has been helpful, Amie! Please do not hesitate to ask me any additional questions you have.

    Happy Planning!
