Hi Is Pirates of the Caribbean ride a bit too scary for two 4 year old girls? we are visiting WDW in August and have just fast passed this ride for 9.30am for the whole family but have read it can be scary way to start the day!?

    Hi Lizzie!

Growing up, Pirates of the Caribbean was my favorite attraction at the Walt Disney World Resort, and it is definitely still at the top of my list!  Even though the theming of the attraction is based on a pirate's life, the majority of the scenery involves lighthearted scalawags creating mischief that will probably not be scary for your little princesses.

The scariest part for me when I was younger was the small dark drop near the beginning of the ride.  Remember, it is a boat ride, so there will be a bit of water that could splash you.  Also, in the beginning of the attraction, just before the small drop, there is a darker scene where you see a skeleton steering a ghost ship and a skeleton of a mermaid with some eerie singing playing in the background.  This is probably the scariest scene in the attraction.  Just after the drop, you will sail through a battle between a Caribbean fort and a pirate ship that includes cannon fire, so be prepared for some loud noises and a bit more splashing.  Once you are through these two darker scenes, you will venture into the carefree, boisterous, plundering lifestyle of the buccaneers where you may even spot a familiar face--Captain Jack Sparrow!

If you are still concerned about the ride being too scary for them, I highly recommend watching a ride-through video of the attraction online before arriving.  That way, you can be prepared for anything that may scare your little princesses!  Also, because the ride vehicle is a boat that has bench seating, they can sit in the middle between two grown-ups just in case the ride becomes a bit too much for them!

Have a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow!
