    Jennifer from MD Asked

I have a PICKEY 13 year old eater We are on the DDP and I’ve booked lots of the Disney favorite restaurants. My questions are - Would my son be able to get an adults size version of kids menu and do all table service restaurants offer fries?

Hello, Jennifer! Most families have at least one picky eater in their midst. I have oodles of experience with my own kiddos, and I'd be happy to give you some food for thought!

My first suggestion is to familiarize yourself with the Walt Disney World restaurant menus, which are readily available online. There are so many fantastic dining options, but the last thing you want is to arrive at a restaurant only to discover that there's nothing on the menu that appeals to your son. During our trips, we've asked for and received adult-sized portions of entrees on the kids' menu, including French fries, at Table-Service restaurants. Even restaurants with international cuisine, such as Spice Road Table, Monsieur Paul, and the Biergarten Restaurant, will typically have items available for the most selective Mouseketeers, such as fries, macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders, and pizza. It is the goal of every Cast Member to make your trip as magical as possible, so it never hurts to ask; just realize that this policy is at the discretion of the restaurant, so your mileage may vary.

My husband and I often like to dine at Signature Restaurants, and our favorites are California Grill and Jiko - The Cooking Place.  Even if my teenage boys can't find an entree to their liking, they can almost always find an appetizer to substitute as their main meal (just ask your server). My steak loving middle son surprised me a few years ago by ordering the Grilled Wild Boar Tenderloin off the appetizer menu, and he's been talking about it ever since!

I have to admit, even I like a helping of Mickey Mac and Cheese from time to time! Buffets are a great place for adults and kids to graze from a variety of selections. I had dinner at 1900 Park Fare last week, and I was only a little bit embarrassed that Prince Charming saw my plate heaped with chicken nuggets and fries (I threw a few greens beans on my plate for good measure).

Jennifer, if you need additional advice with dining recommendations or if you have any more trip-planning questions, remember we're all EARs!

Meet the Panelist: Eean, Pennsylvania

Hi, I'm Eean from Pennsylvania!  I may have an unusual name, but my passion for Disney is not unique.  It’s amazing how many people you can find who love talking about, "The Most Magical Place On Earth!"  I'm that mom who always has her ears perked at PTO meetings, in the grocery store aisle, or at middle school basketball games waiting for an opportunity to give someone a planning tip to help make their vacation even more magical.
