We picked Contemporary for our first visit with our 5 year old. We can't decide on room type. I THINK balcony/patio is important so we can have privacy after her bedtime. Any thought on the various view/room types/value of them? It cost a lot more fr tower

Hi Kimberly!  The Contemporary is one of the original resorts at Walt Disney World and has a loyal following for its unique location and ambience. With a five year old I am sure you will be walking to and from the Magic Kingdom often which is very convenient. The monorail that runs through the tower building is also unique and fun to hop on for a ride around the loop or to Epcot.

The tower is fun and actually very quiet for those staying in these rooms. Your outer doors will look out onto the vast lobby areas. Each will have a balcony that will either overlook the Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake making them very sought after.  The Garden Wing rooms are all located in three story buildings. If I booked one of these I would surely try to get the Garden View or the Deluxe rooms.  If you are wanting to put a little one down for a nap and have some quiet time on the balcony or patio you will also want to have some sort of view. If you end up in a far wing you will also have to consider it is a fairly long walk back to the main building and all the park transportation.  By staying in the tower you will not only get a great view of some sort but you will have easy and quick access to the buses and monorail.  After a long day in the parks this can sometimes be well worth the extra money to be just a little closer to the action!  You certainly can save money by staying in a regular garden view room so you will need to rate your priorities for the vacation and see if the room type means enough to pay a little extra for the better location and view. I have booked a tower room for my family for December and can't wait!
