My party is 2 adults and a 5yo (just 40”), we are planning to do FOP at AK, do we all need FPasses? Or Just the adults riding? Or Just the first adult riding since we will be using rider switch? Thanks!

    Hi Kathleen!

Thanks for your question. I'm still waiting for the day when my family and I can enjoy Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney's Animal Kingdom. When we went last December, we were able to get on Na'vi River Journey, but the Avatar Flight of Passage had no FastPass+ availability on the days we were there, and the regular line wait time was 4 hours plus! :-(

Perhaps when we travel there a little later this year we'll find better success...

To answer your question: No, you do not need FastPass+ passes for those not getting on the ride, such as your 5-year old. When making your FastPass+ selection, choose 1 adult, make your FastPass+ reservation with that 1 adult, then once you get to the attraction, elect to use the Rider Switch program.

The Rider Switch program allows Disney guests to get on attractions while those younger Mouseketeers hang back with a parent or guardian. You would approach the Cast Member near the entrance of the attraction with your entire party (including the 5-year old). Inform the Cast Member you want to participate in the Rider Switch program. The Cast Member will then issue the adult staying back with the child a Rider Switch pass. Then, after the first adult gets off the attraction, the adults will "swap" caring for the child, then the second adult can walk up to the Cast Member, hand them his or her Rider Switch pass, then get in the FastPass line to get on the ride with other FastPass ticket holders. Pretty convenient huh?

Have a terrific experience on Avatar Flight of Passage!
