Part of my family's fun at Disney is to be some of the first people on the rides in the morning. While staying at the Boardwalk, will we be at a disadvantage entering Epcot through the International Gateway? What about on an EMH morning? Thank you!

    Hi Katie!
You have an excellent question and I would not have known the answer before August 2009!  My son & I stayed at the Beach Club Resort in August 2009 for three nights and we entered Epcot through the International Gateway for Epcot's Morning Extra Magic Hours.  It was a very easy and quick way to get into Epcot.

You can take the Friendship Boat from the Boardwalk Resort or walk along the path to the International Gateway.  The International Gateway really is only about a 5-10 min walk from Boardwalk and most of the time walkers will beat the boat to the International Gateway.  Then you will go through a bag check and place your Park ticket into the ticket machines. Normally the Cast Members will let you in before the Park opens for Morning Extra Magic Hours. You will be directed to walk through the Great Britain and the Canada Pavillion area of World Showcase to the beginning of Future World.  then you will be stopped at a rope and held there until the exact time of Park opening (hence the term "rope drop").  The placement of the rope varies from time to time but it is always within the Park somewhere. There will be fewer people on the World Showcase side of the rope drop than at the Future World rope drop so you might actually have an advantage to getting to rides like Soarin' first!

I would recommend that you head straight to Soarin' first and get a Fast Pass and then ride Soarin'.  The beauty of this strategy is that you can come back in a few hours and ride it again using your Fast Pass with a shorter wait!  Many people do not like to get up early on their vacations but the Morning Extra Magic Hours are an incredible opportunity to ride 2 to 5 of the most popular rides at the beginning of the day when the lines are a lot less.

I hope you enjoy Epcot's Morning Extra Magic Hours on your next trip to Walt Disney World!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
