How do the parks get around Christmas? Is it packed or even opened on Christmas Day? We're planning to visit for that time of year.... Help!!!

    Hello there!

Christmastime is a very popular time to visit Walt Disney World.  My family and I have been visiting the week of Christmas for several years now and really enjoy it.  The parks are, in fact, open every day of the year so you don't have to worry about planning around closings.  The closer you get to Christmas Day itself, the busier the parks will get.  Christmas Day is typically a day where Magic Kingdom will reach capacity meaning they will stop letting people in when they hit a certain number.  If you arrive before the park opens, you should have no trouble getting in.  On Christmas Day, I try to be in line 1.5 hours before the park opens - just to be safe.  I've never had an issue.  The parks are all decorated so spectacular for the holiday season, it's like nothing you've seen anywhere else.  There are special holiday meet and greets, special meals and treats, special parades and fireworks and a lot of holiday cheer spread around.

If you are planning on visiting close to Christmas, here are some tips:
    • Arrive early and/or stay late. Take advantage of Extra Magic Hours when the parks are only open to resort guests.
    • Make dining reservations and FastPass+ selections as soon as you can
    • Pack holiday clothing and accessories to fit in with all of the scenery.  It will make for awesome pictures.
    • Take an afternoon break for a nap or a swim.  When the parks get crowded it's great to decompress a little bit.
    • Be patient.  When it gets crowded people can get on edge.  Remember you're at Walt Disney World and enjoy it!

Those tips really help my family and I have a wonderful vacation the week of Christmas.  If you have any other questions, please come back and ask. Happy planning! ‚Äč
