My parents are taking whole family to DW and we'd like to extend our stay with just our immediate family. Cheaper to buy extra days on parents' tix but we're planning to change hotels. Can we still get the Dining Plan since it'll be a new reserv w/o tix?

    Hi Heather,

What you're asking about is fairly complicated. If you go to the independent website blog.touringplans.com, there is an article called "Staying at Two Disney World Resorts in One Trip: Planning a Split Stay" which goes into some detail about this.

The short answer is that in order to purchase the Disney Dining Plan, you also need to purchase park tickets. Disney considers your two hotel stays to be completely different trips, so there is no carry over of your dining plan. To get the Dining Plan at your second hotel, you'd have to also buy at least one day of tickets for this part of your stay. As you've seen, it is NOT economical to do this. So, you can either decide to skip the dining plan for the second half of your stay, or you can buy some tickets that you will use later.

The second option only works if you'll be returning to Walt Disney World in the future. If you'll be back, you can buy one day of tickets to get the Plan, but not use them until you return for another trip.

I know this is tricky. Please write back if you are confused and I'll be happy to go into even more detail.

Just let us know what you need.
