Hi panel! Thinking of tent camping this May with my family of 4, my ? is can u request a loop and which do u think is best(would like to be close to playground and fairly close to pool.)My family loves camping but we have never explored Disney FW sites

Hi Melissa! You are asking about one of my favorite places to stay at Walt Disney World!  We have become return visitors since graduating from the cabins to our own motor coach and we love it!

The tent camping is located in one large area, loop 2000. There are two comfort stations located around the loop and each site comes with electrical hookup, water, grill, picnic table, and cable tv hookup. There is room for two large tents. It is on the internal bus system that can get you anywhere you need to go from Pioneer Hall and the marina to the front area where you catch the park busses. Another loop, 1500, is also where you will find tents and pop-ups. This loop is smaller and has one comfort station but is closer to the main Fort Wilderness pool.  It is also just across the street from the Bike Barn, and play fields.

You can also see tents in other loops on large sites but these are sites that are often double what the tent sites cost and are kept for the bigger rigs that have reservations.  In other words tents can be seen on any space but the big rigs can only fit on a certain sized site. During slow times they won't care where you go if space is available.

You can request but like a resort it is just a request and they will do the best they can.  For your needs I would request loop 1500 as it is closer to the pool. Both loops are quiet and you will often see deer walking through in the early or late hours making it truly a "wilderness" experience.  I love this part of Disney. It is so peaceful and so much to do from campfire singalongs, canoeing, fishing, swimming, pony rides, horseback riding, archery, and so much more. At night head to the beach to see the Electric Light Parade and the top of the Wishes fireworks show from the Magic Kingdom!
