Hi panel! Just returned from my son's first Disney trip and already wanting to plan the next one! We stayed at ASM and were considering a moderate resort next time. Is it worth the extra money? If so, which would you recommend for a mom and 6 year old boy?

Hi Jessica, It sounds like you've been bitten by the Disney bug. If you're like the rest of us here on the Moms Panel, there will be many more Disney trips in your sons future.

The Moderate Resorts offer several options that you won't find in the Value Resorts. One that is always a big hit with kids is that the swimming pools all have slides. In addition, they offer Table Service restaurants on site, which is a bonus for some people. If your son likes swimming, and you think he'd enjoy some pool time, I'd give either the Port Orleans French Quarter or the Caribbean Beach Resort a try with a 6 year old boy. From the link to the French Quarter (above), click on the "Pool" tab (located inside the photo of the Resort). You'll see the fabulous, giant sea serpent slide. Do the same on the Caribbean Beach link above. You'll see part of the shipwreck pool theme. While the Caribbean Beach Resort does offer a lot for young children, I personally prefer the French Quarter. It is much smaller than the Caribbean Beach, which is so spread out that it can take a long time to get to the food court and pool.

I hope this helps and that you have fun planning your next Magical vacation,
