Hi Mom's panel! We are planning our very first visit to WDW next Xmas. I have a 15yr & 5 yr old, I know the crowds will be crazy, can you honestly enjoy yourself during this time of the year with the large crowds? I want my kids to have a great time. T

    Hi there, Khadijah!

With careful planning and an awareness that yes, it's going to be crowded during the holiday season, I'd suggest that there is no better time to visit Walt Disney World than at holiday time. The weather is gorgeous, the Parks and Resorts are absolutely breathtaking in their holiday finery, and the overall mood in the air is joyful and spirited.

While yes, the thought of crowds can be intimidating, it should in no way deter you from continuing to make your plans. If possible, consider the weeks after Thanksgiving through the week before Christmas; these tend to be lighter in attendance, but identical in offerings to the main holiday week.

    A couple of suggestions:

1 - Make a list of must-dos and must-sees at every Park. Give your family input, also, and guarantee them that at least one preference will be honored during the course of the trip. Bear in mind that you might have to strategize a little bit, particularly if you are coming the week between Christmas and New Years day, which is historically one of the busiest weeks of the year.

2 - Check out some of the unofficial fan sites that track crowd data and make prediction of Park crowd levels based on statistics (my favorite is www.TouringPlans.com). These sites will help you get an idea of how you might want to schedule your days.

3 - Come back to the Moms when you have your dates and your lists!! We are pleased to offer the benefit of our experience to help you and your family develop the best itinerary that will maximize your fun.

Keep an eye out on the Disney Parks Blog, too. You'll find that a few months before holiday season kicks off, the Blog starts to present pictures of holiday decor, calendars of holiday-only events, and more.

Have a wonderful time - and happy planning!

    See you later, celebrator,
