    Hi Crystal,

A friend of mine is an amateur magician and he often has a new trick to show me. Not only are the tricks cool, but I love how he's willing to show me the secret to the trick once it's over.

(I wonder if that violates of some sort of magician's code?)

When my friend decided book a couple's getaway for him and his wife at Walt Disney World, he came to me for advice in planning their itinerary. While they both had been there before, he came to me because he knew I had the routine down pretty well.

As soon as I started to help, my secret planning technique was quickly revealed - I let my stomach do the planning.

    HUH??

This may sound a little nutty, but I plan my family's Disney vacations around the dining reservations I get.

    WHY??

I cherish my Disney vacations because they allow me to shut out the "real world" and enjoy the simple act of being present with my family. A significant part of that bonding time happens when we share a meal.

So, I rough out a list of restaurants, then I hit DisneyWorld.com or call (407) WDW-DINE to rustle up some reservations. Once I have my dining reservations taken care of, then we figure out the "must-do" attractions, shows, and other experiences that are in the theme park or near the vicinity of those particular restaurants.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

My two-step planning process can be easily reversed. So, you can start with your list of "must-do" attractions, shows, or other experiences and then make your dining arrangements from there. Either way you slice it, you'll end up with an awesome vacation (and some awesome food as well!).

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you have questions about specific attractions, shows, experiences, or restaurants and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
