Hello Mom's Panel! My Mom and I are planning a trip to Disney World sometime around 3/9/14 - 3/15/14. I have heard crowds are very heavy that time of month. Is that true? I'm concerned because my Mom can handle crowds, but not the peak disney-sized ones!

    Anna:

The week in March at which you're looking is typically a big Spring Break week here in the South where I live. However, it is not as big as the Spring Break week that falls between Palm Sunday and Easter. And none of these weeks see the peak crowds that the week between Christmas and New Year's brings.

I've been to Disney two March spring break weeks and both were tolerable with a plan that includes:

    • Dining Reservations: With a little pre-planning, you can enjoy a respite from the parks without the stand-by wait.
    • FastPasses with your MagicBand+. When you make your room reservations and purchase your tickets from Disney (or link up previously-purchased tickets online) under My Disney Experience, you'll have the ability to reserve up to three experiences each day at the parks, allowing you to skip the lines.
    • Taking a break from the parks for the afternoon: Our family typically gets to the parks early in the morning by rope drop so that we can leave the park by lunch time when the crowds begin to the swell, not to mention the heat that can also make crowds seem less tolerable. We spend the afternoons at the hotel pool, going to one of the mini golf courses or just relaxing in our rooms. We're refreshed and ready to go back in the parks in the evening to stay after the fireworks when most folks head out.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
