your moms panel is fantastic I have found out so much info from reading other families questions. You often recomend guests to Disney hotels to watch the fireworks or to view the EWP, but can I do this even if Im not staying on Disney property

    Amanda,

Glad you find the Moms Panel helpful.  To watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks and/or the Electric Water Pageant ("EWP"), you do not need to be staying on property.  Any visitor to WDW can visit the resorts and use the WDW transportation system for free (if you drive, you will need to pay for parking at most places, however).

Hopefully from our prior answers it was clear that watching the fireworks from the resorts along the Seven Seas Lagoon is a very nice experience, but for most people would not replace the experience of viewing them from inside the Magic Kingdom.  If you could only choose one option, definitely try to see them from the Magic Kingdom, but if you have some spare time some evening, it is also nice to see them from across the water (my preference is from the Polynesian's beach).

Of course to see the EWP, you do need to be at the water's edge at one of the resorts along the Seven Seas Lagoon (Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness).
