Hi There Moms Panel, we are a family of 2 adults and 4 boys, 16,14,13 and 9 travelling from Australia in March 2012 for 14 nights. What would be the most cost effective accomodation and should we take out the Disney dinning plan?

    Hi there Kelly!!

It is wonderful that you will be able to spend 14 at WDW.  The dining plan has to be purchased with a Magic Your Way Package.  The packages only goes up to 10 days.  You could purchase a 10 day package and a 4 day package, but that would not be very cost effective.  You may want to look into purchasing a season pass.  It may end up being cheaper and it would allow you to purchase the Tables in Wonderland card.  The card will provide you with a 20% discount at most of the table service restaurants in WDW.  You can read more about the dining benefits at Passholder Program dining benefits page

I think the most cost effective resort would be the Cabins at Fort Wilderness.  The cabins do sleep six, but only have one bedroom.  The bedroom has a double bed and a set of bunk beds in addition to a pull down murphy bed in the living room.  It also has a full kitchen and an outdoor grill.  You can save money buy having a few meals at the cabin.  You will have more elbow room at one of the WDW 2-bedroom villas, but the cost would be much higher.

Have fun planning your vacation and please feel free to ask us any other questions that may come up.
