Hi Moms Panel Experts! We're arriving in the world in 3 weeks and are planning ahead! I know the holidays always bring new and special treats and food kiosks to the parks and hotels. What are some of your favorite not-to-be-missed snacks and foods?

  • My family has been celebrating the holidays at Walt Disney World for almost 20 years, and the special tastes of the season are a big part of our tradition. We never miss a visit to the Gingerbread House in the lobby of the Grand Floridian, where we get a bag of the assorted gingerbreads to share as we take in the beautiful decorations and festive atmosphere.

Because we love tasting our way around the World Showcase during the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival in the fall, we were super excited to see Holidays Around the World Marketplaces added to the Epcot holiday celebration this year. We only live about an hour away from Walt Disney World, so we made a special trip last weekend just to explore those new flavors.

We had a great time strolling the World Showcase and sampling the savory holiday tastes of different regions: the Hoppin' John from Seasonal Southern Delights; the sauerbraten from Germany; and the shredded beef tamales from the Feast of the Three Kings. We also threw in a few sweet treats, including Three Kings Bread from the Feast of the Three Kings and gingerbread ice cream from France. There's a huge selection of seasonal beverages as well, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. It was all delicious.

The marketplaces serve larger portions than the tasting portions at Food & Wine, so we got full before we could try everything on our list. Another trip may be necessary! You will want to pick up a free Holidays Around the World Passport from any of the marketplaces to see all the offerings so that you can plan your sampling and sipping tour.

I'm sure my Disney Parks Moms Panel friends will have more great suggestions from other parts of Walt Disney World, but these are some of the special treats my family recommends. I hope your family enjoys them as well. Happy holidays!

Seasons Greetings, and a warm welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Lori!

How wonderful it is that you'll be spending your holidays at 'The Most Magical Place on Earth' during a most festive and jolly time of the year where The Magic is Endless!

Disney's Holiday Events and Celebrations await your arrival with experiences and culinary seasonal delights at every turn, Lori.

A few of my favourite seasonal treats to look for are:

    1) Disney Cupcakes, which you'll find at every Disney Resort hotel, throughout all four Theme Parks and Disney Springs.

    2) Disney's Peppermint Bark, available at most Disney confectionary shops packaged in a souvenir metal container or in a portable, eat-on-the-go bag.

    3) Disney's Gingerbread, in the form of our beloved Gingerbread Men and in shingle form, which you can find at the life-size Gingerbread House made of real edible gingerbread at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Lori, I hope these seasonal goodies get you off to a good start during your visit. Don't miss out on the new illuminated 300 drone sensation called, Starbright Holidays Show - An Intel Collaboration at Disney Springs, among other festivities.

    Best Disney Holiday Wishes!

Hi, Lori! Wilma and Jacqueline have given you many delicious ideas for celebrating the holiday season. My family cannot wait to try the Holidays Around the World Marketplaces that Wilma mentioned. Our daughters love to visit with the Holiday Storytellers found in each Epcot World Showcase Pavilion, so having a regional treat to sample as they listen to how each country celebrates the holidays is listed at the top of their must-do experiences for our upcoming visit.

Another new experience that we are looking forward to enjoying is the new Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM nighttime spectacular at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Did you know that you could also enjoy a Holiday Party with this nightly show? It is the *sweetest* way to enjoy the show, with many festive treats and drinks (for kids and adults!) offered. If you head to this party, be sure to look for the Liquid Nitro Frost Bites, a combination of white chocolate and wintergreen mousse covered with dark chocolate sauce and Mickey confetti. I won't spoil it for you, but the best part of this is how it is made!

There are many other seasonal treats I recommend you try during your visit to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Sunshine Day Cafe is where you can find a great selection of these, including Stollen Bites, a Gingerbread Cookie Pop featuring cute chocolate Mickey ears, and Bailey's Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa (and regular hot cocoa for the little elves). Be on the lookout for the Gingerbread Cupcake - to me, it is not a Disney holiday celebration until I have had one of these!

I hope some of these treats sweeten your holiday visit, Lori! Let's check in with more of our Panelists and see what goodies they enjoy...

Wishing you and your family happy holidays!

    Hi, Lori!

How exciting! Holidays throughout Walt Disney World bring even more magic and wonder to the parks and resorts, so sampling some of the special seasonal treats is an excellent way to maximize the festivities. Great plan!

My fellow Moms Panelists have recommended some of my favorite seasonal treats; you cannot go wrong with any of those. When you tour Fantastical Gingerbread Works of Art Across Walt Disney World Resort, and check out the jaw-dropping gingerbread creations (the aroma alone will lead to purchase more samples...mmm...), be sure to bring this great Disney Parks Blog Gingerbread Display Quiz with you. Challenging yourself to find the right answers will be a treat while nibbling gingerbread or one of my favorite treats: Stollen Bread with Marzipan (buy a loaf to bring the magic home with you).

Should you wish to decorate a gingerbread cookie of your own, head to Disney's BoardWalk Resort, where guests may do so Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday, from 1:00-3:00 in the lobby. Create a holiday cupcake under the guidance of a Walt Disney World pastry chef at Ample Hills Creamery, at Disney's BoardWalk, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30-4:30. (Both are offered on a first-come, first-served basis). Want to go bigger with your snack experience? Book a session to build your own gingerbread house at Disney's BoardWalk Resort's Gingerbread Academy; sessions include hot chocolate and apple cider and run from 4:00-6:00 each Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (407) 939-5175 ($125 for up to four people).

Happy holiday snacking, Lori! Have a magical visit!

    Andrea H
