WE are going to be in Orlando, but cannot afford Disney World admission. Do you have any ideas of a way that our 5 year old granddaughter could still get a little taste of Disney?

Hi, Suzy!  There are several things you can do to give your little princess a bit of Walt Disney World magic without heading into the parks.

The first thing you might consider is a character dining experience.  Your granddaughter might get to meet Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Lilo and Stitch, or a princess by booking a dining experience at one of the resort restaurants.  Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort offers a character dining buffet for breakfast and dinner; Lilo and Stitch are currently featured at breakfast at 'Ohana in the Polynesian Resort; Goofy and Minnie usually hang out in their beach attire at the Cape May Character Buffet breakfast at the Beach Club resort; or for a royal encounter, you could do dinner at the Grand Floridian's 1900 Park Fare.  There is no parking fee for dining at the resorts, so you will only pay for your meal.

Another option is to visit Downtown Disney.  The Marketplace area has some great shopping, and lunch at either the Rainforest Cafe or T-Rex, while not necessarily "Disney" in theming, can be great fun for little ones.  There are a few small rides in Downtown Disney - a carousel and a train ride - that you can purchase tickets for.  My kids like to browse the World of Disney store.  The store itself is really cool, and you can find some little souvenir for your granddaughter to take home.

You could also make a visit to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique!  If you can't go into the parks to see the princesses, you can have your granddaughter transformed into a princess!  Located at the World of Disney shop in Downtown Disney, packages for princess makeovers begin at about $50.  Reservations for the salon can be made by calling 407-939-7895.

Have a great visit to Orlando!
