If we do opt to take Disney transportation from the Grand Floridian to the Dream, about what time would be picked up for our 3:45pm cruise departure? I am trying to plan our last day. The Magical Express picks up about 3 hours early. Will this be later?

    Ahoy, Kimberly!

Congratulations on your Disney Cruise Line (DCL) voyage following on the heels of a Walt Disney World (WDW) vacation -- you certainly have the makings for memories which will last a lifetime!

Since I am the "Disney Cruise Mom" on the panel, I am going to be a little biased toward making sure you eek out every bit of fun from your cruise experience. However, I'm a huge WDW fan, too, and I certainly understand wanting to make the most of your time at the Grand Floridian.

Once you make your reservations for both "surf & turf," you will begin receiving travel documents in the mail, and you'll have reservation numbers for making dining reservations, booking activities and recreation and for securing/confirming ground transportation (such as Disney's Magical Express and DCL transfers). You can call (800) 951-3532 in order to find out an estimated departure time for your ground transportation pick up from your resort if it is not clear in your travel documents, and you'll receive confirmation of this time at your resort. Plus, you'll receive instructions about your luggage, too.

My experience is that you probably will have a call time for early to mid-morning since check in begins at Port Canaveral around 10:30 a.m.  (The first groups board around 1 p.m. -- and you definitely want to be of the first to board because sometimes you're allowed to board even sooner than posted!) For a cruise, the sooner you begin boarding -- the sooner your vacation starts and the better value your cruise fare becomes.

Therefore, my suggestion is to make sure that you pack your day bag for the cruise carefully the night before -- you'll probably need to have luggage ready the night before or EARLY the next morning for pick up. Then, schedule a character breakfast at your resort for first thing! Have a wonderful day and  a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
