One more question :-) if we rent snorkel gear in the morning and then return it, can we pick it up again later or would we have to pay again? Oh and one more - are there sand toys to borrow for DVC members like at Aulani? Or do we have to bring our own?

Welcome back, Suzi! Ah, Castaway Cay! One of my family's favorite places in the whole world. I can't wait for you to arrive on Disney's beautiful private island paradise to spend an amazing day!

Snorkeling is one of my family's favorite activities on the island because the Snorkel Lagoon is such a great place to experience life under the sea. Disney has hidden some pretty cool things under the water for guests to spot. If you're on the hunt for Hidden Mickeys, keep your eyes peeled! Earlier this year, my son and I even had a sea turtle swim right under us when we were snorkeling in the lagoon. It was so cool! We always see beautiful fish in the lagoon, but that sea turtle was a first for us! It was so exciting. And of course, it was the one time I didn't have my water camera with me! Oh well, we will always remember it!

Once you rent your snorkel gear, hang onto it until you're ready to be done for the day. We always set up a base camp for our family at some chairs on the beach. We leave our towels and bags and snorkel gear there throughout the day as we enjoy the beach and explore other parts of the island. I'm sorry to say that there are not sand toys to borrow, but the shops on the island do sell a few different Disney-themed sand toy kits from about $8 to $20. That makes a nice souvenir that the kids can bring home but can also use right away! Or, if you have room in your suitcases, throw in some sand toys from home and you'll be all set.

Have fun planning, Suzi. Feel free to stop back with more questions as you count down to the big sail date!
