I have one day to spend in October with my 2 year old daughter in Disneyland. Would you suggest going to Disneyland or the Halloween party at California adventure?

Greetings, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Caitlin!

I am so excited to hEAR that you’ll get to spend a day at the Happiest Place on Earth with your daughter this fall! It only takes one day to make many special memories here!

That’s a tough call! Personally, I’d recommend purchasing a 1-Day Park Hopper ticket and enjoying both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Since your daughter is 2-years-old, she doesn’t require a ticket, which is a nice perk as well! Since you're visiting on an Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party night, I’d recommend starting your day at Disney California Adventure Park, and then heading over to Disneyland Park midday as crowds start heading to the Bash. Luckily, both parks are just a short walk across the Esplanade from each other.

I’d also recommend adding Disney MaxPass to your ticket so that you can make the most of your Disney day! It’s a great way to utilize Disney FASTPASS selections directly from your mobile device. MaxPass also includes Disney PhotoPass, which features unlimited digital downloads of your PhotoPass images – this is a great way to preserve the memories of your magical adventures, and to make sure you both get in tons of pictures!

If, however, your daughter absolutely loves Halloween and trick-or-treating, then Oogie Boogie Bash could be fun for you both. There are plenty of experiences for all ages, including the Frightfully Fun Parade, the all-new World of Color Show, Villainous!, the DescenDance dance party, and trick-or-treating throughout Disney California Adventure Park. Since your arrival day falls on a Sunday, you’d be allowed to enter Disney California Adventure Park at 2:00 PM, and start enjoying the Halloween Time fun. The actual Oogie Boogie Bash runs from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. So, I think it depends how much your little Mouseketeer loves Halloween, and how late she can enjoy the fun!

Disneyland Park will also feature Halloween Time festivities, including classic Halloween experiences like Haunted Mansion Holiday, Costumed Characters, and the Main Street Pumpkin Festival. Plus, for the first time in nearly a decade, all Guests can enjoy a version of the nighttime spectacular, “Halloween Screams” at Disneyland Park.

Be sure to download the Disneyland app to utilize both MaxPass and PhotoPass, to make dining reservations, check wait times, and even mobile order food ahead of time. These features will all help you maximize your time in both parks!

I hope this helps you make your decision. Please stop back with any additional questions you may have… I’m all EARs!

Meet the Panelist: Kristin, California

Hello from sunny California! I currently live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder for about 20 years! As a mom of three kids under the age of 7, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to “The Happiest Place on Earth!”
