Hi Colin,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question. We’ve used both our
FastPass+ selections and the
Rider Switch service during all of our visits to Walt Disney World Resort since our son was born. You’ll definitely be able to take advantage of both services during your upcoming visit.
First, although the policies regarding Rider Switch can change from attraction to attraction, you’ll be pleased to know that, usually, up to 3 Guests can experience an attraction using a Rider Switch pass, which allows them to re-enter through the FastPass+ line. If you have more than one older child, they’ll be able to accompany the adult who waited with the smaller child(ren) who didn’t experience the attraction when they go back through the queue. They can also accompany people who already hold a valid FastPass+ selection at that time.
We often travel with several other friends and family members and we’ve always made sure to schedule FastPass+ selections for the same time for our entire party, even if we plan to use the Rider Switch service. This may mean that some of the Guests in our party may get to experience the attraction twice - once by using FastPass+, the other time, with Rider Switch. It’s win-win for everyone!
If you have any questions about how either system works, just speak to a Cast Member at the attraction’s entrance before you get into the FastPass+ queue. They’ll be able to help you make sure that everyone who wants to ride gets the chance to do so.
Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
