    Ty Asked

I see you are from Ohio. My family is from Southeast Ohio and I have two boys 7 and 12. We are planning an early summer, first time trip to Orlando. I was wondering if there are any sites you would suggest on the way there if we decide to stop?

    Hi, Ty!

It is great to hear from a fellow Buckeye!  With our rough Ohio winters, dreaming of a Florida vacation sounds fantastic.   Going to Walt Disney World in June is a great way to kick-off summer vacation for your boys!

We are usually very tight on vacation time, so have never done the drive from Ohio to Florida.  We have always traveled by plane.   But I did a little research to see what is in store for your road trip.  (Of course I am picturing the movie "Vacation" with all of you on your way to Wally World!)

From what I found, it looks like the drive (without stops/traffic) is about 16.5 hours.    You will want to program your GPS or get a good map from AAA, but it seems you will take a pretty straight shot on 77 South to 26 East to 95 South.   You will pass through several major cities along the way that will be perfect if you want to stop for a meal or stop the night:  Charleston WV, Charlotte NC, Columbia SC, and near Savannah GA.    If I were planning the drive, I would probably want to get in about 10 hours the first day, then the remainder of the drive on day two.  This would get you into Walt Disney World in time for  dinner, a swim at your pool, and maybe a quick trip to Downtown Disney.   You can get a good night's rest in your resort, and start the next morning bright and early by hitting the parks.

Have a safe trip, and make sure you tell Mickey Mouse that everyone from Ohio says "HI!"
