Is 'Ohana worth the fuss? We have two little ones (ages 3 & 5), and plan to leave Magic Kingdom on the last night of our stay for a 5:30PM dinner at 'Ohana. Should we do it, or just keep it simple and opt for in-park dining?

Hi Pamela! Some of my panelists will probably scream at me but I believe in a stress free vacation and whatever that takes I suggest that to all guests.

Although 'Ohana is one of the most popular dining locations at Disney it is not on my family's radar to eat at during our vacations. It is very crowded and you will usually wait for your table no matter what. The first thing I would suggest is to check out the Menu. Try to do this for all your dining so you know if there will be choices that both parents and children will enjoy. If you don't like what you see on the menu then don't make a reservation for that location. Disney has so many choices so you should always be happy with food options.

Your next question to ask yourself is do you think your family will want to stay in the park until the fireworks that night? Some will be too exhausted to stay and leaving for your meal is a good idea. But if you want to stay then I suggest you find something in the park and relax and not stress about going to and from the park. There are some great quick service locations. Once you leave many families find they are just too tired to go back.

The last point to consider is the monorail. If your kids have been dying to ride the monorail then this is a great time to do it. Hopping on at the Magic Kingdom for the short ride over to the Polynesian will give them this opportunity.

This is all a very personal choice and you have to decide what you think is best for the children. 'Ohana's is a tough reservation to get but it doesn't matter if you think the kids will be too tired to appreciate the effort to get there and the food is not what they will eat. The restaurant will be there for future trips so if you don't do it this time you can fit it in on the next visit.
