We have been offered the opportunity to go to Orlando in Jan 2010. We want to take 2 nights and spend in WDW. I can't seem to find any rooms avaliable online at the value resorts during the 2nd week of January. Would they all be booked up already?

There are some large special events that go on in January that do impact hotel reservations. I am specifically thinking of the Walt Disney World marathon which takes place over the weekend of January 7-9, 2010. If you are searching for a room that weekend, then you may have a challenge on-site. However, there are many, many tens of thousands of hotel rooms that are within a 15 minute drive of WDW. If you're looking for ideas, try checking the Lodging section of the independent website allears.net.

If you're not traveling on marathon weekend, then it is EXTREMELY unlikely that WDW is actually fully booked in January. I ran into a similar situation myself recently. I decided in late October to make an impromptu to WDW during the first weekend in December. Both the WDW website and reservations phone number (407-W-DISNEY) told me that no rooms were available. The first week of December is not typically a high-crowd time, so I was skeptical. I went onto the travel website Orbitz.com and found many Disney room choices at very reasonable rates. You could also try Expedia.com or other room aggregators as well. My guess is that if you keep trying, you'll be able to come up with something in your price range.

    Good luck!
