We will be off site and at MK. With a 2 & 4 y/o we know they wont make it the whole day. Is it difficult to leave the park in the middle of the day, go back to take naps and get back into the park later the same day? How long will it take to get back i

I'm glad to hear that you're planning on taking a break mid-day during your visit to the Magic Kingdom. There's nothing that can ruin not only your visit but your child's visit than an afternoon or evening meltdown. I've seen way too many parents try to get the most out of their day by pushing their kids and if the child doesn't fall asleep before the evening parade and fireworks, they'll be cranky.

My recommendation is to aim to leave the park around lunchtime, no later than 1:00 p.m. You'll naturally feel the crowds begin to swell. Riding the monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center and then the tram to your car will take about 30 minutes depending on wait times and where you are in the park when you decide to leave. You'll probably get to your off-site hotel around 2 p.m. Use the afternoon for some much-needed rest, even if the kids aren't sleepy. I always opt for a nap myself. Then return to the park around 5 p.m. Parking spaces should be open nearer the front of the parking lot, but even if they aren't, the tram is just feet away. Your children will see the monorail or ferry ride back to the Magic Kingdom as another terrific ride. Best of all, this afternoon break will allow you to not only get some rest to stay up for the fireworks but also skip some crowds and the heat.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!
