In October we're going on our first ever Disney cruise for DD's 5th birthday Of course a visit to WDW has to occur! We're trying to decide if we're going to get tix for MNSSHP. Are the characters dressed in costume during the day or only during MNSSHP?

Oh my goodness, I am so excited for you! You will have the best time on the cruise! It is a fabulous experience in every way!

And coupling it with the parks? Heaven!

We went to Disney World last year during the Not So Scary Halloween Party. And I do not remember seeing any characters dressed up during the day--only at the party. I do remember that when it got closer to the party (an hour before maybe), the Cast Members on Main Street started showing up in their Halloween "costumes".  So possibly, some of the characters had some on a little early?

BUT! On the other hand, I went to DisneyLAND a few years ago on the FIRST day of the Halloween decorations (not the Party, just during the day) and all the characters were dressed in their costumes when we walked in the park. Maybe it was special because it was the first day of the decorations?

So, overall, my answer is no. If you want costumed-costume-characters, you'll need to go to the party. And can I say? It was *really* fun!

But whatever you decide you are headed for a totally MAGICAL vacation!
