Hello, I am not staying at a Disney resort but Shades of green. I am a single mom and would like to save as much money as possible. # 1. Are there any food discounts for eating at the park since I cannot get the meal plan? Can I load $ on magic bands?

    Hi Vanessa,

Food is the easiest way to save money at the Walt Disney World Resorts. Disney allows guests to bring food into the park. This can help save money during your vacation.

Whether you are driving or flying, you can immediately save on food by simply bringing snacks, drinks and breakfast with you. We often do sandwiches for lunch. We fly to Disney so we use an online grocer such as Garden Grocer to order these items. When checked bags were free on airlines, we used to pack a bag of cereal, snacks and zipper top bags. This help to save money in the parks. You could also ship a package of food to your resort. Check with them on their requirements for receiving a package.

Bring a water bottle from home and fill up at the parks.

Since you are not on a meal plan, you have flexibility. You can order a child's meal at a counter service restaurant and not have an issue. Or split an adult meal which my husband and I often do. This is a big savings as well.

Check sites such as Mousesavers.com or Disney Food Blog for more money saving tips.

Since Shades of Green is not on the Magic Band system, you can not use that method for payment. You can use it for dining reservations, FastPass+ and photos.

    Wishing you a magical day!
