will not be staying at a disney resort. Will i be possible to purchase tickets that have the 1 day early entrance and eating with the characters? I remember doing this in California, but we stayed a disney resort that time.

    Marguerite,

Tickets rules and procedures vary significantly between Disneyland (California) and Walt Disney World (Florida). I have been to both parks several times over the last year, so I have some fairly recent experience to compare the two.

In Disneyland currently you can purchase multi-day tickets that include early entry into Disneyland regardless of where you stay.  Sadly, I haven't stayed at a Disneyland resort yet (usually stay at the Candy Cane Inn), but I understand that they sometimes include even more early entry privileges.

At Walt Disney World you currently need to stay at a Disney resort to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours. They do not sell any type of separate ticket package that includes Extra Magic Hour privileges. If you do stay at a WDW resort, you are allowed to take advantage of all of the Extra Magic Hours offered, if you like.

You DO NOT, however, need to be a Disney resort guest to take advantage of any of the character meals at Walt Disney World (I think this is the same at Disneyland) -- they are available to ALL guests.  This includes character breakfast meals that are in the parks before the park opens, as well as at any of the resorts.

Hope that helps clarify some of the differences and similarities between Disneyland's early entry privileges and Walt Disney World's Extra Magic Hours.  ºoº
