Can not decide between Polynesian or the Wilderness Cabins. 2 families traveling together and a lot of time in the room and possible food preparation in the room at times. I like Polynesian due to closeness and the cabins due to facilities. Help?

    Hi Andi,

Your upcoming adventure sounds wonderful!  Both the Polynesian and Fort Wilderness cabins are a great choice to call "home" during your vacation, but they are very different properties.  My family has stayed at both several times, and truly enjoy both.  The Polynesian is a deluxe resort on the monorail line which makes access to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot super convenient.  In addition, the volcano-themed pool is fantastic and a great place to enjoy an afternoon.  The beach at the Poly is my favorite spot to watch Wishes.  In addition, travelling to the other monorail resorts (Grand Floridian and Contemporary) is a snap, and the restaurants at these resort are, therefore, easy to access.

The cabins offer a spacious alternative for families who love the idea of combining a theme park vacation with a relaxing stay in the woods (Disney style)!  Each cabin has a fully-equipped kitchen, master bedroom, living room and a dining area.  In addition, each has a private deck with BBQ.  Fort Wilderness affords easy access to the Magic Kingdom and the Wilderness Lodge (which has two great table-service restaurants) via boat.  The main pool has recently been refurbished and looks amazing.  The resort is very big, and you might consider renting a golf cart to make getting around easier.  It does have its own internal bus system if you prefer not to.  Fort Wilderness also has a host of fun activities, including a nightly campfire and sing-along with Chip n' Dale, two dinner shows, carriage rides, horse back riding and fishing.  The beach here is another great place to watch the Electric Water Pageant and Wishes.

Since you are interested in cooking some meals at your resort, and travelling with another family, I'd vote for Fort Wilderness.  I'm guessing your collective kids will have a blast with all the fabulous activities, and your families can enjoy sharing some meals on one of your decks.

Whichever you chose, have a magical trip!
