Non-planning duck outta water here (sorry!): Is a last-minute trip the last week of February/first of March (yes, 2013) as our first family trip possible? Kids 3.5 and 1.5. 3-4 nights. Want monorail hotel and 1-2 chances to eat with characters. Help? Tnx!

    Hi Rebecca,

It is okay that you are spontaneous! This will help you live in the small moments that unfold with a Walt Disney World vacation!

I recommend the Polynesian if you are looking for a monorail resort. I love the theming and the pool is fun for the kids. You can also dine with Lilo and Stitch at 'Ohana.

Purchase just the Magic Your Way ticket and pick on park each day and just enjoy that park. Magic Kingdom is a must, and if your children are fans of Disney Junior, you may want to head to Disney's Hollywood Studios for fun with characters from those shows. Epcot is a good choice but go there first while you have fresh legs. I would keep it to two parks for a short trip as this will allow you to explore more on your second trip.

As for character meals, Chef Mickey's, Tusker House and Cape May Cafe for breakfast, Hollywood & Vine for breakfast or lunch and 1900 Park Fare for dinner are my family's favorites.

Wishing you a magical first trip!
