I have no idea where to begin planning activities when at port. I'm on a little bit of a budget but want to make this a vacation my 9 yr old son and my parents (in their 60's).I just don't know where to begin with all the options out there.Any suggestions?

Welcome aboard, Jorie! Congratulations on booking an exciting and magical Disney Cruise, which is the perfect multi-generational vacation. We've traveled with extended family on a few of our Disney Cruise vacations and have really enjoyed every moment!

You didn't mention which ship and itinerary you'll be sailing, but I do have a few suggestions in general. Since you want to get the most for your money, you might consider just booking one very nice Port Adventure. Find an adventure that looks amazing and just right for your family, and book that one. If you'll be stopping at Castaway Cay, don't book an adventure there, as there is already so much to experience on that island, you don't need to spend a cent to do anything else! Don't feel like you need to have an official adventure in every port. Some of our favorite memories on our Disney cruise vacations are when we didn't have an adventure planned. We love to disembark the ship in port and simply wander the port area to experience local culture, or even hop a taxi to a local beach. Even better, if you aren't all that interested in one particular port, or only go ashore for an hour or so that day, you can use that extra time when other guests are off on adventures to explore the ship.

We love to stay onboard and enjoy the pools when they are less crowded, take part in the Midship Detective Agency cases on the Dream and Fantasy when no one else is around, or simply wander the ship and discover new spots to relax!

If your local grocery store offers Double or Triple Fuel Rewards for buying gift certificates, stock up on Disney gift cards which you can use toward your account (to pay for Port Adventures). You will be saving on gas for your car which you need to pay for anyway, so I consider it a way to create our own Disney discounts!

I hope those ideas help, Jorie! Please let me know if you have other questions before you set sail!
