Next month, bringing 6yo daughter & 7yo niece to MK, both for 1st time. Arriving late in the day & not staying at Disney hotel, so want to keep MK a secret until we get to or near the park itself. Where is the best place for a big reveal? We'll be

    Hi there, Nicole!

As you approach the Magic Kingdom, you'll drive under two large archways: the first one features huge stand-ups of several characters and the words "Walt Disney World: Where Dreams Come True".

The second archway is blue and yellow, and features the words "Magic Kingdom" and a picture of Cinderella Castle.

If either of your little Guests is a reader, she will likely be able to figure out your destination pretty quickly, if the big images of the characters doesn't give it away first! Maybe you can have them close their eyes as you get close and slow down just a smidge to show them the destination. Brace yourself for squeals of joy!

But if you are able to sneak under the arches without being "busted," then maybe you can tell them right before you get on the monorail, which does feature the name dropped in a few places in its audio. Likely the secret will be not-so-secret by the time the Castle comes into view. Pull two pair of Mickey ears (available at Disneystore.com) from your day bag and tell the girls that this is "mandatory attire" for boarding the monorail. They'll get the point "in a most delightful way"!

Have a wonderful trip - and aa successful surprise!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
