With the new opening ceremony at magic kingdom do they still select a "first family"? Or is that completely done at Disney? Was looking forward to enjoying the classic welcome show with our next generation

    Hello Lauren!

I'm glad you brought your concerns to us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I can definitely empathize with what you are feeling. I'm a Disney-sentimentalist. Disney is all about the stories and the feelings and emotions they create, so it's hard to embrace any changes. What I like to remember is that Walt always reminded us to "Keep moving forward" and with that mindset, change is needed to "Keep leading us down new paths." It's not always easy when our hearts and happy memories are involved, but it's necessary and often worth it.

When "Casey Jr. Coming Down the Tracks" began to play, I'd always get teary-eyed and my heart would swell excitement for the magical day about to start. While I'll miss it, I'll still always have those memories and I'm thrilled to start making new ones with my little ones. Honestly, I'm genuinely delighted about the new opening! I like the idea of being able to stroll through Main Street, U.S.A. in the morning, or grab a quick breakfast and find a spot near the castle to enjoy it together. As a Disney-sentimentalist I love the "Windows of Main Street," so how fun to point out a few favorites to the kiddos when we aren't rushing to get to our first FastPass+ selection. The "family of the day" has been discontinued with the new Let The Magic Begin show, but I encourage you to find a special way, perhaps even a new tradition to celebrate your mornings at Magic Kingdom with your next generation. (It's actually a really cute show, too!)

Have a wonderful vacation, Lauren, and please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with in planning your practically perfect Walt Disney World Resort visit.
