Does the new gondola system allow ECV (scooters)?

Hello, Stefanie! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I am so excited about the new Disney Skyliner system and can’t wait to ride it during my family’s visit to Walt Disney World Resort later this Fall. While we don’t have a ton of details about what we can expect when the system begins running on Sept. 29, according to a video posted on the Disney Parks YouTube channel, we do know that each cabin will accommodate up to 10 people (including Guests in wheelchairs). The cabins have two slatted wooden benches that face each other, and in the video you can see that the interior looks relatively spacious. Unlike the monorail, ferry and Disney bus systems, all Guests must remain seated when the Skyliner system is in motion.

While Thomas Mazloum (Senior Vice President of Walt Disney World Resort) addressed the Skyliner’s capacity for wheelchairs in the video, he did not specifically mention ECVs. My recommendation would be to contact Disability Services prior to your visit to see if there is a separate designation for ECVs or if they are included in the “wheelchair capability” that’s already been addressed.

Disney says they believe the Skyliner system will be “the most Magical flight on Earth,” and I can’t wait to put it to the test!

Please let us know if there are any additional questions we can answer for you as you plan your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, Stefanie, and stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for additional information about the Skyliner system as well as the other exciting new opportunities making their way to Walt Disney World Resort this Fall.
