I need tips on my first day at WDW with a 4 year old girl. My plan: early breakfast at Tusker House, then a whole day at the park and after Rivers of Light, dinner at Rainforest Cafe. Is that too much for a little kid?

    Hi Lilian!

It is a pleasure to welcome you back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and help you plan magical memories one more time.

I love the idea of spending your first day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Some of my daughter’s favorite attractions are Kilimanjaro Safaris, Festival of the Lion King, and Na’vi River Journey, located inside beautiful Pandora – The World of Avatar.

Brazilian families usually like to stay at the theme parks all day long, so they arrive in the morning and leave after the nighttime spectaculars. I have a 6-year-old daughter and we prefer to arrive early, have lunch, and then go back to our Disney Resort hotel for a nap. We return to the park late in the afternoon and stay until closing time. This is what I normally do because I know my family and they need to take a break. Maybe your family is more energetic, but if you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel then I would consider taking a midday break.

If you prefer to stay all day long at the park, then you must have a stroller for your daughter, because little ones usually get very tired from walking and if they can’t rest you might be in for meltdowns. Bring your own stroller or rent one from Disney Featured Providers, and you will be able to take it back to your hotel and used it throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. Make FastPass+ selections for Na’vi River Journey in the morning, Festival of the Lion King after lunch, and Kilimanjaro Safaris late in the afternoon. Give your family time to rest, bring snacks, enjoy performances by the great artists in the park, and also let your daughter play and enjoy herself.

I hope this helps you while planning. Thank you for visiting us once again!

    See ya real soon,
