Will I need to purchase a ticket to Disney World for my 3 year old?

Hello, Rachel! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks for your question!

All Guests age 3 years old and older require a theme park ticket to enjoy all the magic and wonder at the Walt Disney World Resort. So, yes, your little one will need a ticket. Child tickets are available at a slightly lower price than adult tickets, however. If you will be staying on-site at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, your little one will receive a MagicBand that will be his/her ticket into the parks and how he/she will enter an attraction queue with FastPass+. Your child will need to place a finger on the tapstiles after scanning the MagicBand to enter the parks. If your child has trouble with this, you can speak to a Cast Member who will allow you to use your fingerprint instead.

Your little one is going to have so much fun! My best tip for parents traveling with preschoolers is to check their height, with shoes on, before you head to the parks. Around this age was when my daughter hit the magical 40” mark which meant many thrill attractions were now available to her like Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Soarin’ Around the World, and numerous others. Knowing your kid’s height before you arrive will help you prioritize which attractions to select FastPass+ for and how to plan your days.

I hope this information was helpful! Have a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
