Do we need passports if we only booked the 3 days cruise that stops in the Bahamas?

    Ahoy, Brett!

Isn't it fun to dream about setting sail on a Disney Cruise? No matter how many times I vacation with my favorite captain, Mickey, I always feel the same excitement and joy when it's time to board the ship because there is nothing quite like a Disney Cruise. You'll be treated like royalty from the moment you step foot in the Grand Lobby Atrium and won't want the vacation to come to an end when it's time to say "Sea Ya' Real Soon" to the amazing cast and crew!

When you're planning your first magical voyage, there are lots of things to consider including what type of documentation needed to board the ship. If you are sailing on a closed-loop cruise (departing and returning to the same U.S. port) from Port Canaveral, you are not required to have a valid U.S. Passport to board the ship. You will need to have a government-issued photo ID (all Guests 16 and over) and an original or copy of your state-issued birth certificate. Disney Cruise Line does recommend U.S. Passports for all Guests so I suggest reading over the Passport and Documentation Information before making your decision. I know it can be an added expense to your vacation, but it offers peace of mind in the event of an unlikely emergency while visiting the Bahamas.

Brett, good luck with your plans for a Bahamian adventure! We are always happy to help with any other questions you may have about a vacation on the high seas with Disney so please let us know!

    Happy planning!
