    Joanne from NE Asked

Do you need a passport to go to Mexico in a Disney cruise

    Ahoy Joanne!

Welcome back aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  It sounds like you have a high seas adventure in front of you.  I am excited for you to sail with Captain Mickey to Mexico on your upcoming getaway!  Check your packing list and download your Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, you are going on a Disney Cruise!

If your cruise is round trip, meaning that your sailing starts and ends at the same port, U.S. citizens must present either an original U.S. Passport, U.S. Passport Card or Trusted Traveler Card, OR an original or copy of a state-issued birth certificate AND government-issued photo ID.

If your cruise is one-way, meaning your cruise starts in one port and your final debarkation at the end of your cruise is in a second port, an original U.S. Passport, U.S. Passport Card or Trusted Traveler Card is required.

These requirements to board the ship match the passport and travel documentation required for the ports you visit during your sailing.  My recommendation is to travel with an original, valid U.S. Passport whenever possible.  It is peace of mind for me and my family, in the event of an emergency, that we will have the proper documentation with us at all times.

Rest assured, however, if you are on a round trip sailing that includes a stop in Mexico, that the alternate travel documentation requirements in place of a passport will get you access to a Mexican port.  Be sure to check passport and travel documentation guidelines right before you sailing as requirements are subject to change.

Cruise back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel if you have any additional questions about your upcoming adventure!
