Do you need a passport for a Disney Cruise. What else will work

    Ahoy, Dale!

Welcome aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel! If you're asking about documentation and identification needed to set sail with Captain Mickey, you must be planning an upcoming Disney Cruise! From the moment you step onboard, you'll be treated like a VIP! Sailing to exciting ports of call while watching movies in the Buena Vista Theatre or relaxing in the adult-exclusive Quiet Cove Pool is such a fun way to travel.

At this time, U.S. citizens sailing on Disney Cruise Line itineraries leaving from a U.S. port and returning to the same U.S. port do not need to have a valid passport to sail. Instead, Guests can use a valid government-issued photo I.D. (like a driver's license) and a state-issued birth certificate as proof of citizenship. Children under the age of 16 who are traveling with their parents may bring a state-issued birth certificate as their identification. I highly recommend checking out the Passports & Travel Documentation page on Disney Cruise Line's website before your cruise, to ensure you have the appropriate documentation needed to sail!

Even though Disney Cruise Line doesn't require Guests to have passports for all itineraries, I still highly recommend getting one for every person in your travel party. In the off-chance of an emergency while you're visiting a port of call, your passports will allow you to catch a flight quickly home!

Dale, thanks so much for sailing by! Please visit us again with any other questions!
