Need help planning our first trip, we will be staying Feb. 2-8. I'm having a full hysterectomy in 2 weeks and know I really need to get this planned before I become even more overwhelmed! Our girls are 4 and 2. Stay on grounds or not? Food plan worth it?

Hi Megan! I can totally understand why you are hoping to get things planned now as when it comes to a Disney vacation that is the best advice so you are able to get the dining you hope for and any other activities.

I strongly suggest staying on property at one of the great resorts. Disney offers something for everyone's budget from Value resorts to Deluxe resorts. The Deluxe will offer close proximity to the parks and larger more sophisticated pools for the guests. Value resorts are generally located further away and have basic facilities but will still have the Disney touches. Moderate resorts are something in between!  When you stay at a Disney resort you have the ability to enjoy the Extra Magic hours in the parks, charge purchases to your room account, and have full use of the Disney transportation on property as well as to and from the airport. I just feel it gives you such a magical vacation when you stay with Mickey and friends and because of their great internal transportation system with the buses, boats and monorails you don't even need a car.

The one advantage of the dining plans offered would be that your vacation will basically be paid for before you arrive. It is only offered for those guests three and above so you will still need to pay for your two year old meals. If you don't feel like it is is a detriment to pay for food on vacation then I don't suggest the plan with the ages of your children. I'm sure you find that they eat big at some meals and nothing at others and a dining plan might frustrate you more then help you. You don't need or want stress while on vacation!
